Grazier Design Works (2000-2020)
Starting a design business opened up a new world and helped Lorelei become a more effective designer. By putting herself into her clients’ shoes, feeling the challenges of a start-up and learning how a business works, Lorelei gained insight and it has enriched her ability to help clients solve their marketing and design challenges.

The hatching of Chickadee
Chickadee is a creative business that evolved from years of growth in Grazier Design Works, growth as a parent/person and growth in other entrepreneurial endeavors. Love, fun and productivity are at the heart of everything Chickadee.

Why Chickadee?
Chickadees symbolize positivity, cheerful nature, flexibility, courage and social behavior. Chickadees are loved by many and are always in good company, surrounded by laughter and joy. Chickadees are dependable and will always be there for their friends. A fascinating feature of the Chickadee is that this sweet tweet is able to lower its body temperature in the coldest of conditions. This is a symbolic cue for humans. This ability is a reminder that we are all divinely constructed. We all have infinite potential to adjust and adapt, no matter what the conditions may be.

Once you hear a chickadee call, you will always know this bird. Chickadees have a signature voice. This reminds us humans to create our own signature call.

2020 is a great year to take a lesson from the Chickadee. We can adapt, change and let our unique voice and actions be a part of the solution. What is it about you that is special and unique?

A bit of history
Lorelei launched her career in Budapest, as art director for global design firm, Saatchi & Saatchi. There, she earned her stripes working on multimillion-dollar accounts like Johnson & Johnson and Samsung.

Lorelei was the first American student at the Hungarian Academy of Arts & Crafts, where she dabbled in photography and design. She then earned a master’s degree from the renowned Basel School of Design in Switzerland.

Back in the States, Lorelei worked at New York City design firm Chermayeff & Geismar as an exhibition and graphic designer. One of her clients was the National WWII Museum in New Orleans. Over the course of this project, she designed materials, managed the installation process, and worked with a team of designers and historians to create the concept and design for the new Pacific phase of the museum.

Lorelei signed on as a visiting professor at The American University in Washington, DC, which sparked a passion for teaching that continues today. Since 2001, Lorelei has been an adjunct professor at Northeastern University, The Art Institute of Boston, and Simmons College. She is an active lecturer for various area design programs, providing critical feedback and mentoring to students.

Now on to today
Once the entrepreneurial spirit was ignited it became clear that design was a portal into the creative business world. These skills were used to partner with an event company and create Down:2:Earth, Boston’s Sustainable Living Expo. Then a move from the city environment to rural Vermont lead to a leadership role establishing a team of independent business owners. The common thread has always been Lorelei’s strong desire to make a difference. Whether she is crafting a brand for a start-up or coaching a new business owner to success, Lorelei always brings her A-game.
